Housing is urgently needed for people with MCS

What is MCS? It stands for Multiple Chemical Sensitivity. It is one of the many types of Environmental Illnesses that a growing number of people are experiencing.

There is no agreed upon definition of MCS. The term is very descriptive of the condition.

A great description of MCS can be found here -

After reading the information from this link you should get some idea of how awkward and complicated life with MCS might be for someone.

There are planty of houses around so why is housing urgently needed ?

That is a question that can be difficult  to answer. Basically, houses are generally built, fit out and decorated with things and materials that make MCS sufferers quite sick. One of the main classes of chemicals found in many housing and decoration materials is Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs).

People with MCS also tend to have very low threshholds to these and many other common chemicals. In many cases they react to naturally occurring chemicals (for example, freshly cut grass releases naturally occurring VOCs).

Many MCS sufferers may have to at least temporarily give up work or study. The quicker diagnosis is made the better for long term health gains. Getting the sufferer into safe, healthy housing, with safe furniture and clothing and safe foods to eat goes a long way to potentially helping them recover.
